#1 Blades of Ice (Free Verse)

The rush of excitement you get when you take your first step out onto the ice,
for the very first time in ages.
The adrenaline you feel when you skate around the rink,
with that joyful bright shinning smile of yours lit up against your face.
The way the blades of your skates scream against the ice,
each time you take a stride.
When you set yourself up for a jump,
you heart pounding like a kid jumping on a trampoline.
When you take off for the jump it's like flying in the sky.
But when you land it is a swan so graceful.
When you set yourself up for a spin,
it's like a spinning top that spins uncontrollably,
than just stops.
People may say that figure skating isn't a sport,
but truly it is, bruises, cuts you name it...
People may call us "Twirl Girls" or just plain "Figurer Skaters"
but no matter what it's my life.
